Cheryl Johnson

CEO

As a native of Lansing, Michigan and one of eleven children, Cheryl Johnson has always been dedicated to uplifting her family and community. After graduating from Michigan State she came to Los Angeles to start her own business. Her passion to help the underprivileged evolved into her running three successful community residential services while providing transportation services to the individuals she provided services for. While her approach has shifted, her passion has remained the same. Ms. Johnson’s dedication to improving her community is now focused on providing employment and living support. Through person-centered planning and skills-building she has molded a mindset that is universal through Community Outreach Resource Development Center, CORD, which has a mission to empower individuals through proactive methods of communication, innovation, and leadership.

CORD focuses on community development by preparing individuals with intellectual disabilities to be a part of the workforce in their neighborhoods. Through the strategic plans developed by CORD’s experienced job coaches, each participant is assisted in developing a plan unique to their skill set and interests. Whether it is working in a warehouse, pet grooming store, or opening their own business, CORD empowers its participants by encouraging self-growth and achievement.

As the CORD CEO, Cheryl Johnson collaborates with other vendors, local businesses, and participants to produce a cohesive relationship built on community development. Her experience working with regional centers in the Los Angeles area has given her an advantage in terms of providing insights and proactive approaches to each participant. As a team, CORD lives out the mission set by Mrs. Johnson in which the community becomes the ultimate resource for uplifting each participant so they can reach the goals they have set for themselves while becoming productive members of society.
